The Comprehensive Plan names the Alapaha River and the Alapahoochee River as opportunities, and emphasizes both youth recreational opportunities are needed and the Statenville boat ramp needs to be better used and advertised.

1. Areas of significant natural or cultural resources,
particularly where these are likely to be intruded upon, or otherwise impacted, by development;
Natural resources requiring special attention include: The Alapaha River, the Suwannee River, Grand Bay Creek, the Alapahoochee River, the Suwannoochee Creek, and Toms Creek; all of which could possibly be utilized in various ways for recreational and/or tourist uses.

- The Alapaha flows north to south on the west side of the County and has boat ramps.
- The Suwannee River, Grand Bay Creek, Alapahoochee River, Suwannoochee Creek, and Toms Creek could possibly be utilized a lot for recreational and/or tourist uses.
6. Community Facilities and Services
Issues:
- There is a need for more recreational opportunities for the youth.
Opportunities:
- The public boat ramp located on the Alapaha is valuable and could be better used as an asset to the community.
