Pictures: WWALS Booth at Alapaha Station Celebration 2025-11-08

Thanks, Heather Brasell for helping Gretchen Quarterman at the WWALS Booth at the Alapaha Station Celebration in Alapaha, Georgia, near Sheboggy Boat Ramp on the Alapaha River, the most upstream public landing on the WWALS Alapaha River Water Trail.

Notice the new tablecloth with the Suwannee Riverkeeper logo. Much easier than tying a banner to the front of the table.

Alapaha Station Celebration on Saturday had a very wet and stormy start, but the rain stopped for a slightly delayed parade, and we had beautiful blue skies in the afternoon. I was a backup to Gretchen Quarterman with the WWALS booth. WWALS […] Watershed Coalition promotes clean water issues in several ways. They have a network of water testers (including me) and publish weekly results to let the public know what sites have good quality water for fishing, canoeing, and swimming. They organize water paddle events throughout the watershed — it’s a lot safer to canoe with buddies. They have established two water trails with maps and brochures with information for paddlers — Alapaha River and Withlacoochee/Little Rivers. The Riverkeeper John Quarterman also maintains a strong advocacy role. You can find more information at wwals.net.
