All the river camps are closed due to high water for the Spring Equinox weekend, so we are rescheduling the Adams Tract Camping paddle for Saturday and Sunday 10-11 April, 2021.
Join us for our first spring paddle, on the Suwannee River Wilderness Trail in Florida!
We will paddle 8 miles on the Suwannee River the first day, and 10 miles on the second day, after camping at Adams Tract River Camp. There are many springs along the way.
We will check temperatures with an infrared thermometer, and everyone will be expected to keep their distance from people not in their party, and to wear masks when closer than six feet. Self shuttle if you can (have a close friend or relative shuttle you), or join the team shuttle from the takeout back to the put-in; see below.
To be sure you have a spot at the camp, please say you’re going on the meetup.

Adams Tract River Camp: Be sure to sign up on the meetup so you will have a spot at the camp. River Camp platforms are available on first-come first-serve basis so, plan for primitive camping and bring a tent or hammock and tarp or what you prefer. Be aware river access is by steps, with room only for one boat at a time to stop at the bottom. We do not necessarily endorse this method of river entrance demonstrated by one of the four adventurers on the recent Great Florida Traverse, who paddled all the way down the Suwannee from the Okefenokee Swamp to the Gulf.

Self Shuttle: 16 miles, 19 minutes. Anyone attending the paddle is encouraged to set up their own shuttle for the take out prior to meeting at Hardenbergh Boat Ramp at 9:30 am. We will call this the self shuttle.
Team Shuttle: 16 miles, 19 minutes. Those who were not able to set up a self shuttle prior to 9:30 AM will depart Hardenbergh Boat Ramp at 10 AM joining in a team shuttle. Only the drivers will take their vehicles to the takeout. At the takeout another vehicle will return to the put in with the passengers. We will call this the team shuttle.
This team shuttle will be created on site as we have account of who will need to be shuttled. The vehicles returning to the put in will need to be shuttled back after taking out on the second day.
There will be COVID-19 questions, temperature checks, and mask enforcement, as well as riding one person per window. If available and necessary, also one member may be in the bed of a truck.
