Ochlockonee Paddle

Our blackwater river neighbor to the west is having a paddle this Saturday.

Ocklockonee River Paddle in Thomasville,
Hosted by Mary Madden and Scott Taylor,
Saturday 11 April 2015,

Pack up your paddles, we are headed to deep southwest Georgia to explore the uncharted waters (at least in the case of our Stewardship Trips Program) of one of Georgia’s most mysterious rivers.

Join the Georgia Conservancy and the Georgia Canoeing Association on Saturday, April 11th, for a day-paddle on the Ochlockonee River near Thomasville, GA. The paddle will start at Highway 19 (putting in on Egg and Butter Road) and taking out at the Highway 84 boat ramp. Because of the likelihood of snags and portages, this paddle is for moderately to experienced paddlers only.

UPDATE: Thanks to our friend Chuck Winchester, we will be offering complementary camping at Camp Pineywoods on Friday and Saturday night. The camp, with bathroom amenities and a full kitchen, is centrally located between the put-in, take-out, dairy and cheese shop.

Details, including registration and Sweet Grass Dairy tour, on the Georgia Conservancy website.

This is not a WWALS event, but we are happy to draw attention to it. Thanks to Margaret Tyson for the pointer. See also the Ochlockonee River Water Trail and their facebook page and website.
