Burnt Church access to Alapaha River 2017-08-18

Historic church, steep downhill access to the Alapaha River, and lots of trash.

And trash

Why would anybody trash a nice river like that?

Upstream

This access to the Alapaha River appears to be owned by Lanier County Board of Commissioners in Parcel 031 0038. If so, presumably it is public access. That we’re not sure is why we have it listed as a point of interest rather than as a landing in the Alapaha River Water Trail (ARWT) map. I guess I’ll ask the Lanier County Commission.

Looking uphill past trash

And it sure looks like a cleanup would be a good thing to do.
