The annually-reconstituted WWALS Songwriting Contest Committee now has four songwriters on it, and is considering right now who to ask to be judges and headliners for the 2021 Suwannee Riverkeeper Songwriting Contest. Send your suggestions to song@suwanneeriverkeeper.org.

Song submissions by contestants will commence in April.

• Welcome, Facebook live –Laura D’Alisera
  

  Video. Our first winner, Laura D’Alisera, invited everybody to come on down. She was speaking on facebook live, which was another first for the 2020 Contest.

• Intro: Judge Emmy Law –Scott James, M.C.
  

  Video. M.D. Scott James introduced Judge Emmy Law, of the Atlanta and Nashville music scenes, currently living in Gainesville, Georgia.

• Happy –Judge Emmy Law
  

  Video. Judge Emmy Law noted that, due to the virus pandemic, this was the first gig she had played since March 13, 2020. She sang her song “Happy.”

• Applause for Emmy Law –Scott James, M.C.
  

  Video. People were happy to hear Emmy Law’s song.

• Intro: Judge J.J. Rolle –Scott James, M.C.
  

  Video. Judge J.J. Rolle got the longest introduction, by using an unusual method. He is a local Valdosta musician, who has played from here to Ireland, Germany, and the Netherlands.

• I’m going down to the square
  

  Video. Judge J.J. Rolle sang about busking, with a story about numerous cities.

• Intro: Judge Cindy Bear –Scott James, M.C.
  

  Video. Judge Cindy Bear won last year’s Our Santa Fe River (OSFR) Songwriting Contest. She sings high energy je ne sais quo.

• Santa Fe River song –Judge Cindy Bear
  

  Video. Judge Cindy Bear said this was her first live gig since March 15, 2020. She sang her OSFR-winning Santa Fe River song.

• Thank you judges for playing –Scott James, M.C.
  

  Video. M.C. Scott James thanked the judges for playing, and led into the finalists playing.

What took so long to get videos up? Well, there was some confusion about cameras, due to a few volunteers trying to do several things at once. Now it’s just hours in the day.
