Local resident Jay Ricks paddled the Withlacoochee River Wednesday, from Troupville Boat Ramp (which locals call the prison boat ramp, due to the state prison across the highway), to US 84.
This was the same day as the Paddle Georgia exploratory expedition.
Jay saw this odd sight at Troupville Boat Ramp:
Apparently GA-EPD preparing to sample upstream
Sandbar
Jay found what he thinks is a spring.
Jay says it’s at this spot on the Withlacoochee River.
According to Google Earth, that’s below the spillway of a big borrow pit by Kinderlou.
Spring, or spillway runoff?
This is one leg of the Withlacoochee and Little River Water Trail (WLRWT).
Here’s what that stretch looked like back in February, with much higher water.
