Trash can missing at Naylor Beach, Alapaha River 2022-12-24

Update 2023-01-01 Two new VLPRA trash cans for Naylor Beach on the Alapaha River 2022-12-29.

Suzy Hall checked on the trash can at Naylor Beach on the Alapaha River at US 84 yesterday. It’s not there.

It was put there by Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks and Recreation Authority (VLPRA) in 2018, after WWALS asked for it.

The last record we have of that Naylor Beach trash can was in January 2020.

We’re asking VLPRA again: could we have a trash can at Naylor Beach?

There was a trash can still at Naylor Boat Ramp yesterday: thank you VLPRA.

But that’s way more than the Walt Disney 30 steps from the beach: he observed people would walk about that far to find a trash can, or 60 to 75 feet.

Few people will walk the 385 feet from the beach to the boat ramp just to deposit trash.

Suzy could not extract the chair from the river.

She did collect the chair somebody burned on the beach. In an exception to the Disney rule, she put that chair in the trash can at the boat ramp.

After WWALS Executive Director Gretchen Quarterman asked for it, VLPRA put a trash can at Naylor Beach back in Spring 2018. That was before Naylor Boat Ramp was poured.

Dear VLPRA, can we get a trash can back at Naylor Beach?
