It was quite a do, at The Farm at Okefenokee.

The Okefenokee Gateway Getaway was put on by Charlton, Clinch, and Ware Counties, whose leaders “collaboratively strive to harness the potential of our region’s crowning jewel – the Okefenokee Swamp and Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge.” It was apparently the first-ever collaborative venture of those three Georgia counties.

There were events all day that Thursday, but I had to drive up from the Suwannee River Wilderness Trail at Lafayette County Florida State Parks Open House Public Meeting. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any pictures at the Thursday evening dinner, because my phone had run down.

So here’s a picture of the dinner pavilion the morning after.

The Farm is quite a venture, with houses to rent or buy and numerous crops from flowers to fruits to row crops, plus honey. See https://okefarm.com.

Here’s an indication of which parcels constitute The Farm along the entrance road to the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge (NWR):

The Farm is outside the Suwannee River Basin, but not by much, since the Suwannee Canal flows from the Refuge boat ramp west into the Suwannee River.

Thanks to Clinch County Administrator Jaclyn T James for inviting me to Okefenokee Gateway Getaway.
