Gather at Sasser Landing, caravan to private land to put in, paddle down half a mile to Devil Shoal, then upstream towards GA 135 and back.

Help clear passage through deadfalls, leaving habitat. You can pick up trash, photograph, pull sawed limbs aside, or just paddle.

Take Out: on private land

Boats: We will be using a WWALS canoe the 24-inch Husqvarna Rancher chainsaw paid for by a grant from Wild Green Future, plus other saws, electric and gas.
Kayaks and canoes are welcome to paddle along.
Bring a rope for the front of your boat: there will likely be some dragging due to low water.

We will also see Historic Beaty Bridge on Swilley Road, which is the second oldest bridge in Florida.

Bring: the usual personal flotation device, boat, paddles, food, drinking water, and first aid kit.
Also trash pickers and trash bags: every WWALS outing is also a cleanup.
Please follow Leave No Trace principles by packing out all trash, avoiding damage to vegetation, and respecting wildlife.
If you have a chainsaw and know how to use it, bring it along.
Or a sawzall or handsaw, which is especially good for small underwater limbs.
But you do not have to saw: you can pick up trash, or photograph, or just paddle along.

Gauge: There is no gauge on the Alapahoochee River, so we go by the closest guage on the Alapaha River, just downstream of the Alapahoochee Confluence:

Jennings Gauge, Highest safe 7.4 feet, 68 NAVD. Lowest boatable 4.4 feet, 65 NAVD.
We will go even if the level is below our low recommendation.
Or especially if it’s that low, so we can saw deadfalls that otherwise would be underwater.
