Joanne says, “You like that stretch through the brambles going west from Worthington? Agh! We hit a sudden rush right about Olustee and a friend flipped, that was exciting.”

Olustee Creek is the border between Union County upstream on right (north) bank of the Santa Fe River and Columbia County downstream. On the left (south) bank of the river, it’s Alachua County all the way.

That rodeo reminds me of the upper Alapaha and Withlacoochee Rivers, and of the Suwannee River Narrows between Stephen C. Foster State Park and Griffis Fish Camp.

Join us as we follow the journey of the Santa Fe River; from a trickle coming out of the Santa Fe Swamp to its drop into the karst hole at O’Leno. We stop along its path, sometimes paddling, sometimes walking as we learn about it’s journey before it crosses the Cody Escarpment and the many springs.
