All Georgia Riverkeepers speak Wednesday to American Fisheries Society 2019-02-06

Apparently for the first time ever, all the Riverkeepers of Georgia will be speaking at the same event. Flint Riverkeeper Gordon Rogers passed on the invitation from the Georgia Chapter of the American Fisheries Society (GA-AFS) to speak at their annual conference.

St Marys Riverkeeper Big Splash 2016-11-19

Rick Frey is the new St Marys Riverkeeper, and his board had a big bash at White Oak Conservation, with Bobby Kennedy, president and founder of Waterkeeper® Alliance, the organization that licenses Riverkeepers. WWALS was represented by president John S. Quarterman and Treasurer Gretchen Quarterman. Doubtless pictures from the professional photographer will get posted somewhere; meanwhile, here are a few snaps, including some of our brother and sister Riverkeepers: Flint, Altamaha, and Satilla.

The Big Splash: St Marys Riverkeeper Roll-Out 2016-11-19

The only other Waterkeeper to straddle the GA-FL line, the new St Marys Riverkeeper Rick Frey, is hosting a big do in Florida Saturday, WWALS will be there to help Ask Rick Frey why a rhinoceros “celebrate the roll-out of this non-profit effort to engage and educate our community about the benefits of a clean St. Marys River and to conserve this historic and scenic natural resource now and for generations to come.”

This is the same day after Okefenokee Pioneer Day with Satilla Riverkeeper. Lots of Riverkeepers will be at this St Marys Bash.

Public Hearing about the $48 million Falling Creek Aquifer Recharge project and its 48-inch 11-mile pipeline, and several others also involving the upper Suwannee River, 9AM Tuesday, February 9th, 2016, at SRWMD headquarters in Live Oak. Wouldn’t limiting withdrawals make more sense? And why is this the only project listed that’s joint with the St Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD), and why is drawdown from Jacksonville prominently featured in slides about why this project?
