The Alapaha River sink, or, swallet hole, is a fascinating spot that I have visited several times, by land and by canoe.
It is in 2 scenes in my historical fiction novel, SILVER’S ODYSSEY,which features a military man from the SW Florida shipwrecked Atocha galleon in 1622.
He faces survival across wilderness Florida, including a time spent with the Alapaha Indians at a mission on the river. A life-threating challenge faces him as he goes into the sink to bury pieces of eight.
