Nice to look at, but not for driving. Chris Mericle reports:
Here are some photos of an old bridge across the Alapahoochee River that Deanna and I came across while out exploring the other day.
Driving or even walking across this bridge probably shouldn’t be recommended.
According to the coordinates in the pictures,
this is the bridge on NW 9th Drive, northeast of Jennings, Florida,
also known as Swilley Road, South Southwest of Statenville, Georgia.
Specifically, at
30° 36′ 58.03″ N 83° 4′ 46.44″ W, or 30.6161194,-83.0795667.
An interesting addition to the information for the Alapaha River Water Trail.

Short Link:
My wife and I have kayaked the Alapahoochee from the bridge just above the Florida line in Ga to the new boat ramp on 150. We passed this bridge. We did this in the winter when the river was high. It was fast and fun with a really nice set of shoals about where the power line crosses. There were a few trees down but there was no problems. Need some experience. Always wondered how much further up the Alapahoochee we could go and still be safe.
