Alapaha River Water Trail Committee Chair Chris Graham
went with a few friends down the middle section of this Blueway:
Which is roughly 12 river miles. It was amazing epic river trip.
The water level was 1.91 ft @ Statenville gauge. It was paddleable except for a few spots where we had to get out for a few seconds to get to deeper water, and there were some deadfall trees in the river. Some of them we went through them and others we had to pick up the kayak over the deadfall. Beside that it was fun.
At the halfway point was the famous The Rocks. It was so epic and amazing shoals aka rapids to go through! It was so intense I had to have my A game on because I didn’t want to brick.
Lol, I would like the river to be just a little higher so the water flow be moving faster and easy to kayak.
This was not a WWALS outing, but Chris Graham is Chair of the Alapaha River Water Trail Committee and will lead the July 11th WWALS Outing from Lanier Park to US 84 (fallback Banks Lake). You can support WWALS by becoming a member today!
