Update 2021-02-18: Not looking good, Withlacoochee River 2021-02-16.
WWALS samples Friday for Knights Ferry, Nankin, and State Line Boat Ramps were all well below the 410 one-time E. coli limit. So State Line was way below what Madison Health got for Thursday. I’m happy to have guessed wrong. So far as the most recent data we have, the Withlacoochee River is good to boat, swim, and fish at least as far as the GA-FL line.
But remember, it rained again today upstream. And there’s probably more manure that can be washed down Okapilco Creek into the Withlacoochee River.
So I’ve set Knights Ferry, Nankin, and State Line green on Swim Guide. Downstream from there all sites are still red, because Madison Health’s Thursday data is the most recent we have.
Yes, I know Madison Boat Ramp is not Madison Blue Spring, and is not FL 6. But both of those are close downstream of FL 6, which is the most downstream that Madison Health usually samples, so I set those two according to FL 6.
For those who want all the details, here are pictures of Michael and Jacob Bachrach’s Petrifilms, which finished incubating this afternoon for samples they collected Friday.
