Videos: Suwannee Riverkeeper about Songwriting Contest on Scott James Radio 2022-08-18

Thanks to Scott James for half an hour of radio time Thursday, mostly about the Suwannee Riverkeeper Songwriting Contest. The Contest is 7-11 PM today, Saturday, August 20, 2022, at the Turner Center Art Park, 605 N. Patterson St., Valdosta GA 31601.

For entry tickets and how you can get a raffle ticket for that Vibe Yellowfin 120 kayak donated by Georgia Beer Co., see:

Who’s going to draw the winning kayak raffle ticket? The one and only hippie, kayaking, radio Valdosta Mayor Scott James Matheson.

Which of the five Finalists will MC Chuck Roberts announce as winners of the $300 First Prize, the $50 each for best song inside and out side the Suwannee River Basin, and the Best in Genre plaques, still in their wrappings so they’ll be fresh for the winners? Come and see this evening!

First you can listen to the Judges sing, and the two headliners, last year’s winner Sweet William Billy Ennis from Palatka, Florida, and Dirty Bird and the Flu from Valdosta, Georgia.

Thanks to our all sponsors.

You can still become a sponsor and get a kayak raffle ticket by donating $100. One of our artists will draw you a sponsor image to show up front.

And you can bid on paintings by Julie Bowland and Ethan Abbott in the silent auction, along with other items. That’s an Ethan Abbott painting behind the Mayor’s head as he was talking with Kristin Hannah of the Boys and Girls Club of Valdosta.

On Talk 92.1 FM Radio we also talked about the the amazing Withlacoochee River by Valdosta, and how the WWALS chainsaw cleanups (come on down; you do not need a saw) and dealing with Valdosta’s trash problem are starting to make that stretch from Langdale Park past Sugar Creek to Troupville Boat Ramp a very nice paddle.

The Chairman and Mayor’s Paddle is coming March 4, 2023, from Troupville Boat Ramp to Spook Bridge. Should be warmer than previous years, and maybe we won’t have to reschedule. Come on down and support that fundraiser for WWALS!

But first, come to this evening’s fundraiser, the Suwannee Riverkeeper Songwriting Contest.

Here are links to each WWALS video of each topic, followed by a WWALS video playlist.
