After
an application for an exemption for the Withlacoochee River
and the Santa Fe River, here’s Sabal Trail’s application to
drill under the Suwannee River in between.
Should we also expect an “HDD CROSSING” permit application
for the Withlacoochee and Suwannee Rivers?
And watch out, The Villages in Sumter County, Florida!
Sabal Trail has applied for a permit in your county, too.
Permit Application Under Review Site Name: SABAL TRAIL TRANSMISSION / SUWANNEE RIVER HDD CROSSING FDEP Office: NORTHEAST DISTRICT Florida County: SUWANNEE Permit Type: Water – ERP Noticed General Permit Application Number: 326338-002 Applicant Name: GEORGE MCLACHLAN Applicant Company: SABAL TRAIL TRANSMISSION Application Received: AUG-08-2014 Current Processing Status FDEP is currently reviewing this permit request. Contact The Office of Public Services whenever you have questions or concerns about the permit data.
While looking for it in
FL-DEP’s search interface,
I also found this one for Sumter County, Florida,
where overpumping from the
karst limestone substrate
has already yielded
a sinkhole that ate an apartment building,
less than 20 miles from the proposed pipeline path.
Do we want buildings sinking where the pipeline would go there
or elsewhere in Florida or Georgia?
