Protected A Wild & Scenic River Portrait, tonight 2018-05-31

7PM tonight at Mathis Auditorium in Valdosta, come see that Oregon has the most official Wild & Scenic Rivers, but we’ve got some just as good here in south Georgia and north Florida.

Follow river paddler, author, and conservationist, Tim Palmer, through the enchanting waters of Oregon’s Wild Rivers Coast, which has the highest concentration of National Wild & Scenic Rivers in the US. With just a canoe, a camera, and an old van, Tim finds his bliss and his calling on these rivers, and has found a way to share their beauty… while reminding us all about the significance of national Wild & Scenic Rivers program that protects beautiful rivers all across the country. Produced in Partnership with the US Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management.

Alapaha River, Hotchkiss Road to US 84 2017-04-02

This was a tiny outing for a couple of visitors from Oregon through what has since become a new Wildlife Management Area on the Alapaha River, between Hotchkiss Road (which had some magnificent potholes) in Lanier County to the site of the pending new park and boat ramp off of US 84 in Lowndes County, Georgia, all on the Alapaha River Water Trail.

Atlantic Sunrise: Williams fracking pipeline through Sabal Trail to LNG export in Florida, Georgia, Maryland, and elsewhere

Fracked methane would come from Pennsylvania across our Withlacoochee River twice to LNG export in Florida, and many other rivers and aquifers would have the same problem throughout North America, as would domestic natural gas users as LNG export drives prices up, and local and state taxpayers having to clean up after insufficiently-insured pipeline companies. All the named coastal arrows on this map from Williams’ Atlantic Sunrise project in Pennsylvania branch off from Williams Transco to LNG export operations:
