The Chamber of Commerce in the center of the Alapaha River Water Trail sent a very nice letter of support that connects the dots between water recreation, education, and economy.

Mr. John Quarterman, President
WWALS Watershed Coalition, Inc.
3338 Country Club Road #L336
Valdosta, GA 31605Dear Mr. Quarterman:
Since 2004, our Chamber has worked diligently to retain college and
university graduates in our community after graduation. We believe that the future of our local economy will improve only when more of our best and brightest decide to stay in Metro Valdosta after graduation. We have identified the factors that can influence young professionals in their decisions regarding a place to live and build a career and family. One of those factors is quality outdoor recreation opportunities.
I understand that WWALS Watershed Coalition is working with others to apply for a GRN grant for marketing existing facilities on the newly established Alapaha River Water Trail. I believe the Water Trail will be a very attractive recreation option for young professionals, making our community even more appealing to active young adults and their families.
Thank you for your efforts on behalf of the Alapaha River Water Trail.
Sincerely,
[signed]
Myrna H. Ballard
