The VSU Anthropology Club has asked WWALS to send volunteers to help clean up a private lake in Valdosta.
When: 9AM Saturday 30 April 2016
Where: End of Wedgewood Drive at Bancroft Road
In charge: VSU Anthropology Club aka Anthro-Geeks
Facebook: event, which says:
In exchange for the removal of the trash pile and concrete boulders behind QUOLA, the Anthro Club, Sociology Club, and community volunteers will remove trash from a small lake in participation with the Great American Clean Up for KVLB (Keep Valdosta/Lowndes Beautiful)! All are welcome to attend! Come and help 2 great causes!!!!
QUOLA (The Quality of Life Association) offers free services such as tutoring, after school programs, gardening, and music lessons to children in our community! The center has become the community service project of the VSU Anthropolgy Club and Sociology Club! Join us in our efforts to promote and assist this wonderful center!
Directions: From VSU, go North on Patterson, turn right on Northside Dr., turn right on Wedgewood.
This is not a WWALS outing; WWALS is merely referring people to the VSU Anthro Club. But it sounds like fun, a worthwhile thing to do, and a chance to socialize with multiple Valdosta State University student clubs.
This is private property, Lowndes County parcel 0151C 204A, so please don’t go there unless invited.
It’s slightly upstream from Knight’s Creek, which flows into Mud Creek, then into the Alapahoochee River, then the Alapaha, then the Suwannee, and it all ends up in the Gulf of Mexico.
