Almost all below the limit 2018-12-19

The irony: Valdosta’s warning sign is still up at Troupville Boat Ramp after its six spills weekend before last, yet Valdosta’s own weekly water quality testing stations almost all measured below the state limits for Fecal coliform and E. coli.

The exception was at US 41 (North Valdosta Road) on the Withlacoochee River, with 290 cfu/100 ml of Fecal coliform, which isn’t very bad.

That’s also not downstream from any of Valdosta’s reported spills.

For that matter, none of Valdosta’s reported spills were into the Little River, and the bacterial tests there were clean, so the warning sign at Troupville Boat Ramp seems odd. Maybe it’s about Tifton’s spill upriver.

Spill Reports

We don’t know if there were any more spills reported to Atlanta since Thursday, December 19, 2018, because the GA-EPD Sewage Spills Report was last updated Friday, December 21; apparently December 24, 2018 was not a business day.
